Pictures in Russian Could Be Different

The English word PICTURE could have four Russian counterparts:

⏺ рисунок = picture, drawing, illustration

⏺ картина = picture, painting

⏺ картинка = picture, image

⏺ фотография = picture, photo

In order to say “in the picture”, use the preposition НА and the prepositional case.

на рисунке

Use these nouns in the accusative case with the transitive verbs:

рисовать /нарисовать картину, картинку, рисунок = to paint, draw

делать /сделать фотографию = to take a picture
