When you become a student of Russian, you might be curious what to do with your non-Russian name. Here are some suggestions on how to “russify” your name.

You can cyrillicize your name according to common standards:
  • Davis- Дэвис

  • Zoe - Зоуи

  • Brian - Брайан

  • Kevin- Кевин

  • Michael – Майкл

  • David – Дэйвид

You can adopt a Russian name or the Russian version of your name if it exists.
  • Anthony – Антон

  • Johnathan – Иван

  • Darian – Дарья

  • Catherine – Катя

  • Michael – Миша

  • Samuel – Самуил

  • Jacob – Яков

  • Christine – Кристина

  • Alex – Саша

  • Zoe – Зоя

  • David – Давид

  • Eugene – Евгений

You can try to preserve as closely as possible the sound of the name from the original language.
  • Samuel – Сэмюель

  • Casey – Кейси

  • Thomas – Томас

  • Elyza – Элайза

  • Darian – Дэриан

  • Leroy – Лирой

  • Amanda – Амэнда

  • Zoe – Зоуи

  • David – Дэйвид

  • Elyza – Лиза

  • Erynne – Ирина

You can try to approximate the spelling of the form in the original language.
  • Elyza – Элиза vs. Элайза

  • Amanda – Аманда vs. Амэнда

  • Isaak – Айзак vs. Исаак

  • Samuel – Сэмюель vs. Самюэль

  • Michael – Михаэль vs. Майкл

  • Darian – Дариан – Дэриан
